Tree of Inspiration
In September 2020, the Foundation installed “Tree of Inspiration,” a bronze statue by the internationally renowned artist and Sudbury resident Janice Corkin Rudolf, at the entrance of the Sara Sherman NOW Lab on the second floor. Thanks to Rudolf’s generosity and to the Robert Lloyd Corkin Foundation, the Library is now home to two of her works. (Rudolf’s sculpture “An April Day” was installed in 2002 near the Library’s main entrance.) Rudolf and the Foundation came up with the idea to integrate more than 50 hand-painted tiles into the base of the sculpture, all purchased and painted by members of the community, as a way to recognize one’s family or honor a special friend or relative. This initiative raised more than $20,000 for the renovation. The Foundation livestreamed the unveiling via Facebook Live; please click HERE to see the recording of this event.
