Capital Improvement Projects
Since its establishment in 2008, the Foundation has relied upon the professional direction and support of the Library Trustees and Library Director Esme Green, together with the generosity of its donors, to successfully complete capital projects that secure the excellence and vitality of Goodnow.
The Foundation has funded key enhancements to the Library including:
-
Refurbishment of the Children’s Room

-
Complete overhaul of the Library’s technology offerings, including state-of-the-art networked public access terminals, iPads, iMacs, Chromebooks, a wireless printer, Apple TV; and STEAM equipment throughout the Library
-
Creation of the first floor Community Gathering Space including a lobby HD-TV bulletin board, comfortable chairs, for gathering and a coffee station
-
“Reimagining the Second Floor Project” that includes the creation of the Sara Sherman NOW Lab, the new Teen Area, a modern Technology Center, and the refurbishment of the Historical Octagon

-
Renovations to the Library’s beautiful Historical Room (in 2020 the Library was awarded a $150,000 grant from the Community Preservation Committee for the renovation, and the Foundation raised an additional $67,000 to complete the project; work is nearly finished)
The funds provided by the Foundation to these projects total more than $500,000 to date.
